Description

wood, fine deep and glossy blackened patina, white glass bead earring, classical features with scarifications on the cheeks, the coiffure composed of four spherical bulges, min. dam., cracks, slight traces of abrasion, on wooden base;
besides its sculptural beauty, the interest of the figure lies in the coiffure, which is rare among the Ashanti. It might be possible that the coiffure is an abstract representation of a group of terracotta pots carried by women on their head.
