Description

wood, predominantly whitened with kaolin, a flat body, reduced in form, with stylized facial features, vertical ridge in the trunk, two knotted plant fibre bands around the hips, slightly dam., missing parts (both foot tips), on plate;
the unusual treatment of the body and limbs complements the reductionist style of the face. The striking flatness of the body might suggest a role as a sort of marionette in theatrical rites of the main Tsogho cult.
