Description

wood, reddish brown patina, red pigment, black paint, kaolin, fine carved coiffure with small lobes on each side, eyes accentuated with kaolin, raised scarification marks on face and body, abundantly decorated shoes, collection number backside: “AJP1118”, slightly dam. (nose bridge), cracks (back of the head, back), on wooden plate;
embodying the female ideal of Baule culture: elaborate coiffure and scarification marks are considered as signs of beauty.
