Description

wood, polychrome paint, conical base, thin legs supporting a stocky body with broad shoulders, a strong columnar neck supporting a rather small head with tribe-typical facial features and hat-like coiffure, additions missing, dam., cracks, missing parts (hands), slight traces of abrasion, on metal base;
Pende figures are rare, but show the same facial features like the masks. Figures like the present one were posted on the roof tops of chief’s houses for adornment.
