Description

ivory, natural grained, polished, carved with feather hat and loincloth, a necklace with animal teeth and a water receptacle attached to the right arm, the facial features are regular, the pupils provided with black inlay, a very fine filigree piece of work, slightly dam., foot-zone broken;
the remains of a disc-shaped base and the dark colour at the bottom of it refer to the fact, that the figure once was situated on top of a staff. Staffs have been used as emblems of rank and title all over the world since ancient times.
