Description
wood, honey brown patina, handle in shape of a standing figure with raised burled scarification on the back, large concave spoon, min. dam., slight traces of usage, base;
the Sundi chiefs used to eat vegatable hotpots together with their inferiors. They used wooden spoons while the men of lower ranks used provisional spoons consisting of folded leaves.
A comparable spoon was auctioned at Sotheby’s New York, 14th November 1989, lot 215.
