Description
wood, shiny brown patina, rising from slightly bent legs, both hands grasping the breasts, cavities in the belly and on top of the head for the insertion of magical mass, facial features partly rubbed off, min. dam., cracks, minor missing parts, on wooden base;
the ethnical group of the Vili, living at the estuary of Zaire River, once belonged to the Kingdom of Kongo. Their masks, sculptures and objects stylistically are closely related to the works of their neighbours, the Kakongo, Woyo and Yombe.
