Description

wood, dark brown patina, white string of glass beads, striking massive legs, fine scarification marks around the navel, accentuated by the hands resting on both sides of the abdomen, min. dam., base;
the Tabwa are a small ethnical group, living in the southeast of Zaire, along the southwestern banks of Lake Tanganyika. Their style reflects their geographic location at the East african rift, showing influences of the Luba, the Fipa and the Nyamwezi.
