Description

wood, black patina, remains of pigment, raised bean-shaped eyes with see slits, prominent scarifications on forehead and cheeks, drilled holes around the rim, slightly dam. (eyes), rest., base;
a mask by the same artist from the Collection Josef Mueller was auctioned at Christie’s London in 1978, lot 59 . For a further mask by the same hand, which was collected in situ verifiably before 1924, see AHDRC archive 0064327.
