Description

wood, shiny dark brown patina, of flat, board-shaped form, plastically carved head, min. dam., traces of abrasion, base;
these traditional dolls were called “omolangidi” - “wooden child”. They are carved rather simple and frequently they are made by an apprentice. Young girls used to stick them into their clothes as if they are babies, they are caressed, fed and decorated.


The object Slat doll “omolangidi” with the object ID 3037386 was last part of the auction 78th tribal art auction at October 18, 2014 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 100 achieved a sales price of EUR 350.
