Description

wood, shiny brown patina, of flat, board-shaped form, the whole body wrapped in fabric and leather, min. dam., missing parts (vestment), base;
these traditional dolls were called “omolangidi” - “wooden child”. They are carved rather simple and frequently they are made by an apprentice. Young girls used to stick them into their clothes as if they are babies, they are caressed, fed and decorated.


The object Slat doll “omolangidi” with the object ID 3033195 was last part of the auction 70th tribal art auction at September 8, 2012 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 337 achieved a sales price of EUR 220.
