Description

wood, slightly shiny black patina, crested coiffure with neck-lobe merging into an elongated arrow-shaped nose, big c-shaped ears, incised scarifications, sticky sacrificial patina, slightly dam., abrasion of paint;
because of the accentuation of the female sex characteristics and the navel the figure was surely used in connection with fertility and was placed on a shrine. At sacrificial rites the figures were sprinkled with black liquid of burned plants.


The object Sitting figure with the object ID 3035742 was part of the auction 75th tribal art auction on November 30, 2013. The object with the lot number 156 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,700 with an asking price of EUR 1,800.
