Description

wood, greyish brown patina, dam., cracks (head and shoulder right hand side), small missing part (left arm), the back hollowed by insects, base;
a work of the “master of the gems”.
figures depicted in sitting posture were called “paralyzed bateba” - “bateba bambar”. As they cannot move because of paralysis, they guard the house.


The object Sitting “bateba” figure with the object ID 3035799 was part of the auction 75th tribal art auction on November 30, 2013. The object with the lot number 66 achieved a sales price of EUR 300 with an asking price of EUR 250.
