In Yoruba pantheon, “eshu” represents one of the most respected deities (“orisha”), who holds a wealth of functions. He is considered to be a mediator between the people and the gods and he has the power to decide on fortune and misfortune, to name but a few.

He is a trickster phenomenon able to be good and bad, trustful and mischievous; he can bestow prosperity or cause misery.
