Description
wood, slightly encrusted matt patina, remains of pigments, clamp-shaped corpus, a long neck supporting a narrow head with beak-like mouth and crested coiffure, mirror glass inlay in the area of the eyes and at the temples, trimming with plant fibre, rep. (crack), traces of abrasion;
the Waja live in an area to the north of the upper Benue River. It was not before the 1960s that their large shoulder masks were discovered.
The object Shoulder mask with the object ID 3032745 was last part of the auction 69th tribal art auction at June 2, 2012 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 350 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,000.
