As with the Zulu shields, so too were those of the Hehe and Bena cut out of half-tanned cowhide. It was the Hehe and Bena who increased the stability of the shields to a certain extent by curving the rims forward.


The object Shield “isihlangu” with the object ID 3051599 was part of the auction Auction 104 on April 12, 2025. The object with the lot number 504 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,000 with an asking price of EUR 500.
