Description
terracotta, reddish patina, white pigment, parallel scarification marks on the upper arms and the cheeks, pierced ears, min. dam., minor missing part (left foot tip), traces of abrasion;
the Igala settle at the left bank of the Niger, south of his confluence with the Benue; their neighbours are the Igbo and the Idoma, but they had been in contact with the Bini, the Yoruba and the Jukun ever since.
The object Seated male figure with the object ID 3035973 was last part of the auction 75th tribal art auction at November 30, 2013 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 328 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,800.
