Description

wood, matt dark brown patina, encrusted with kaolin, legs stretched out, head with crested coiffure and well-balanced facial features, min. dam., cracks, rep. (at the back of the coiffure), base;
figures depicted in sitting posture were called “paralyzed bateba” - “bateba bambar”. As they cannot move because of paralysis, they guard the house.
