Description

wood, remains of original polychrome paint, standing female figure holding a child on the right arm, traditional clothing, carved with ear ornament and necklace, slightly dam., paint chipped off in some areas, rep. (base, fixed by nails);
“Yashoda” became the foster-mother to “Krishna”. His father “Vasudeva” gave him to “Yashoda” in the night of his birth. He wanted to protect “Krishna” of king “Kansa of Mathura”, who was the brother of his wife “Devaki”.
