Description

wood, blackish brown patina encrusted in some areas, sickle-shaped slit eyes, flat carved triangular ornament running around the rim, slightly dam., missing parts (rim), small traces of insect caused damage, base;
according to Francois Neyt, the round masks of the “ekpo” society were used during yam festivals and funeral ceremonies.
