This type of container was used by Ifugao priests during harvest rituals and was served to store various objects associated with rice fields.

They included, for example, bamboo sticks, each of which represented a pig that had been exchanged to pay for the field.


The object Ritual box with lid “punamhan” with the object ID 3047224 was part of the auction 95th Tribal Art Auction on October 24, 2020. The object with the lot number 13 achieved a sales price of EUR 500 with an asking price of EUR 250.
