Description
brass, age patina, base
The ring set with a horse and rider in reduced, archaic-looking forms. Very beautiful object with age-related patina"
According to Fisher such a ring was given to the military chieftain to wear during his ritual prayers.
The horse occupies a privileged place in Dogon myth. Dogon figures depicting horses and equestrian figures reflect the prestige and power that has been associated with the horse since it was introduced to West Africa more than a thousand years ago.
