The symbol of the bird beak with stone originally stands for King Kpengla (1774-1789) and is linked to the following proverb: “A stone dipped in water does not fear the cold”.

This sentence was intended to underline the king’s fearlessness, which he proved during the wars he waged.


The object Récade, 19th century with the object ID 3047107 was last part of the auction 95th Tribal Art Auction at October 24, 2020 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 174 achieved a sales price of EUR 300.
