Description
wood, oval calotte with drilled holes around the rim, carved with a narrow head with tube-like open beak, plug-shaped projection on the head, missing parts, the surface extremely marked by insect caused damage, repainted, with traditional orange-red pigment, remains of encrusted dark brown patina inbetween, metal base;
comparable masks were located to the Muri Division of Adamawa Province. (Compare Yale van Rijn Archive of African Art, Nr. 0081004 and 0051807)
