wood, copper alloy (bronze, brass), encrusted patina in places, sacrificial traces, indigenous repair with copper sheet strips, old missing part

This particularly elegant object is the work of the small Mfinu ethnic group living on the left bank of the Congo River north of Kinshasa.

A nice detail are the stylized hands that grasp the support surface from below and that make the body appear as a stylized human figure with outstretched arms and legs.
