Description

wood, blackish brown patina, upper part of anthropomorphic body rising from habile handle, which is covered by a long projecting skirt of coarse cotton fabric, slit-like opening at the back, ear ornament with glass beads, slightly dam., abrasion of paint, cracks, metal base;
belonging to a puppet figure “merekun”. The puppet theatre “sogo bò” is subject to the patronage of “kamalen ton”, a society of boys coming from one village community. The theatre consists of a sequence of singular scenes, interrupted by short performances of singing and dancing.


The object Puppet with the object ID 3038875 was part of the auction 80th Tribal Art Auction on June 27, 2015. The object with the lot number 229 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,200 with an asking price of EUR 2,000.
