Description
wood, brown patina, in form of a female half figure, partly stud with metal sheet, originally movable arms now missing, coiffure with two plaits on each side, rep. (right plait), cracks, small missing parts, slight traces of abrasion, metal socle;
presumably belonging to a puppet figure “merekun”. The puppet theatre “sogo bò” is subject to the patronage of “kamalen ton”, a society of boys coming from one village community. The theatre consists of a sequence of singular scenes, interrupted by short performances of singing and dancing.
The object Puppet with the object ID 3034899 was last part of the auction 73rd tribal art auction at May 25, 2013 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 124 achieved a sales price of EUR 6,000.
