Shamans summoned the spirit “kalgamu” to perform healing rituals and séances intended to ensure success in hunting, fishing and reindeer herding. They were revered as guardians of the ancestors and the family. In folklore, these beinsg were associated with forest spirits, which could be either benevolent or hostile towards families.
