Due to stylistic similarities, this staff can be attributed to the “baboon master”.

From the recognized workshop of this master, four different types of figural staffs are known. In addition to married and unmarried men and women they show mother figures and just that surreal baboon, who gave this master his name.


The object Prestige staff, late 19th century with the object ID 3045803 was last part of the auction 92nd Tribal Art Auction at June 29, 2019 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 257 achieved a sales price of EUR 750.
