Stone pestles with bird-like decorations are widespread in the central highlands and in the Sepik River region. However, this specimen is notable for its unusual shape: the pestle itself takes on the appearance of a highly stylised bird and is a unique find in terms of its design.


The object Prehistoric zoomorphic stone object, possibly a pestle with the object ID 3052661 was last part of the auction Auction 105 at November 15, 2025 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 135.
