Description

wood, reddish patina, black paint remains, the lower section carved with a standing male figure, the eyes consisting of glass beads and metal tags, dam., cracks, missing parts, wooden socle;
such posts served as architectural elements for meeting houses called “ebanza”. They were constructed in pairs of male and female, to both structurally support the “ebanza” and define a sacred space. Situated in the rear, only the front of the figurative posts was visible to the audience, which might explain the absence of decoration on the back.
