Description

wood, reddish patina, remains of pigments, post-shaped corpus without arms and legs, shoulder- and breast area indicated, crowned by a janus head with nearly identical facial features and disc-shaped headgear, dam., missing parts through insect caused damage, traces of weathering, cracks;
tall cylindrical posts with anthropomorphic heads are found in the villages of many ethnic groups, even among the neighbouring Tabwa. They should protect the village and its leader.


The object Post figure with the object ID 3034285 was part of the auction 72nd tribal art auction on March 9, 2013. The object with the lot number 424 achieved a sales price of EUR 700 with an asking price of EUR 500.
