Description

ceramic, orange slip, black, red, and cream-white paint, elaborately restored

Painted decoration encircling the vessel: a band of pseudo-hieroglyphic script around the rim. Two seated figures, possibly representing the Hero Twins “Hunahpú” and “Ixbalanqué” from Maya mythology, who were revered for their wisdom and strength.
