Description

burnished clay, polychrome paint (red, blue, black, creme white), thick-walled, the interior of the flat plate painted with a priest or shaman who is wearing a stylized mask of the Crocodile God, highly abstract, rare en-face design, conical foot with flaring rim, dam., rep.;
the design, bordered by dark lines, playing with rythmic alternation, fills up all the available place, demonstrating a certain “horror vacui”.


The object Pedestal plate with the object ID 3038692 was part of the auction 80th Tribal Art Auction on June 27, 2015. The object with the lot number 117 achieved a sales price of EUR 3,200 with an asking price of EUR 2,800.
