wood, each figure in squatting posture with hands in praying gesture and schematized facial features, varied are just the form of the face and of the mouth, surface structure extremely marked by weathering and insect caused damage, the original patina nearly entirely removed, cracks, missing parts, plate;
figures in pairs were used for weddings or for protection against infertility. They were kept and venerated at family shrines.
