wood, greyish brown patina, camwood powder “osun”, indigo blue/black paint at the coiffure, male/female, both likewise abundantly adorned with metal ring, numerous necklaces with coconut discs and miniature glass beads, as well as cowrie shell strings on both wrists, once provided with metal tag eyes (just one preserved), both with linear skin scarifications and “gash” on the cheek, slightly dam. (right eye of the female), facial features rubbed off, blocklike base;
cowrie shell ornament is an indication of the high regard paid to the deceased by his family, and the wealth of the family as well.
