Description

wood, brown patina, “osun”, six strings (miniature glass beads/coconut discs), male/female, both wearing the same cap-like hairdo with incised patterns, ears with drilled holes for attachment of ornament, pupils originally accented with nails, the faces with the characteristic broad and flat noses show a bright washing patina, min. dam., minor missing parts (drilled ear hole of the male broken);
in typical Yoruba style, pleasant, smooth and well-proportioned.


The object Pair of twin figures “ere ibeji” with the object ID 3036968 was part of the auction 77th tribal art auction on June 28, 2014. The object with the lot number 365 achieved a sales price of EUR 700 with an asking price of EUR 500.
