Description
light brown wood, dark brown patina, handle in form of a bird, min. dam., small missing parts, traces of abrasion;
the Rotse have their homeland in western Sambia on the banks of the upper Zambezi. For a long time the Rotse were under the cultural influence of the Lunda, Chokwe and Luena. They are particularly known for their marked style in figures, but also in objects of daily use, like bowls, which were used for keeping meet and vegetable.
The object Oval bowl with lid with the object ID 3038232 was part of the auction 79th Tribal Art Auction on March 21, 2015. The object with the lot number 530 achieved a sales price of EUR 220 with an asking price of EUR 200.
