Description

wood, brown patina, in shape of a leaf with stalk, label with handwritten inscription: “Schild der Fan[g]-Gabun, 1925 mitgebracht von Emmy Martin Grand ’ maman.”, traces of old age and usage, warped/vaulted, spots, abrasion of paint, cracks.
According to Tessmann (1913) used for grinding the kernels of the “Irvingia barteri” (African mango). A particularly hard spherical fruit was used as tool for grinding.
