Description

hollow cast bronze with dark patina and remnants of gilding, bone & glass paste (eye inlay), inventory no. ‘AE 2’, export stamp, base

Enthroned Osiris, wearing the Upper Egyptian feather crown (‘atef’) with uraeus serpent and sun disc; the plaited god’s beard on his chin. The body sculpted in block form, suggesting important anatomical details. Osiris is depicted as ruler of the realm of the dead with the royal insignia of crosier and frond.
