cow or buffalo hide, polychrome paint, min. dam., traces of usage and abrasion;
these “heraldic shields” can certainly be compared with those of Europe’s medieval knights. Based on the way a shield was painted, it was easily possible for a warrior to recognize the age group and from where his opponent came.


The object Old shield, 19th century with the object ID 3041878 was part of the auction 85th Tribal Art Auction on March 4, 2017. The object with the lot number 491 achieved a sales price of EUR 5,500 with an asking price of EUR 3,000.
