Description

wood, gypsum ground, polychrome paint, rest., small missing parts (chin, nose tip), cracks, paint rubbed off;
these masks were not intended as portraits of their subject. Rather, they represented the idealized features of the deceased following his resurrection as a divine being in the afterlife.


The object Mummy mask with the object ID 3038736 was part of the auction 80th Tribal Art Auction on June 27, 2015. The object with the lot number 171 achieved a sales price of EUR 800 with an asking price of EUR 400.
