Description

wood, shiny brown patina, the conical mortar on top of a human head with a long neck, the face showing stylized features, with a striated backswept coiffure, min. dam., crack, missing part (base), slight traces of usage;
the Pende used large mortars “kinu” for grinding pigments or spices and small ones to grind tobacco or hemp.
