The initiates of the “korè” are divided into different groups, each of which receives a certain animal as a totem.
These are represented by appropriate masks. Aside of the monkey masks “sulaw”, hyaena mask “suruku” and lion masks “jaraw” appear.
The object Monkey mask “ngon” or “sulaw” of the “korè” society with the object ID 3046577 was part of the auction 94th Tribal Art Auction on March 7, 2020. The object with the lot number 214 achieved a sales price of EUR 1,800 with an asking price of EUR 1,500.
