Description

eleven-part,

a) pair of ear plugs, Miao / Hmong, silver, cast, d: 2.9 cm, h: 2.1 cm, g: 65 g (pair)

b) hairpin, silver, with colonial French silver coin, d: 3.9 cm, h: 13 cm, weight: 46 g
The silver coins “INDOCHINE FRANCAISE - PIASTRE DE COMMERCE - TITRE 0.9000 POIDS27GR” were minted between 1885 and 1895 and are also highly sought after by coin collectors. It is hardly possible to attribute the object to one of the numerous ethnic groups in this region.

d) hook-shaped ear ornament, Miao / Hmong, silver, chased, h: 21.5 cm, w: 8.7 cm, weight: 46 g (pair)
Early photographs from the 1920s show how this fragile ear jewellery was worn: the women fastened the small tips in the earlobes and the curved end in a topknot at the back of the head.

e) pair of earrings, Miao / Hmong, Dong, silver, h: 4.5 cm, d: 4.4 cm, weight: 45 g (pair)

f) pair of earrings, Miao / Hmong, Yi, Lao(?), silver, forged and chiselled, h: 13.6 cm, w: 8 cm, weight: 51 g (pair)
