Description
terracotta / ceramic, clay encrustations, fragmentary, rest., base
According to early reports, it was the custom to wash and repaint (with black paint) these figures and then to carry them in solemn processions at annually recurring commemorative ceremonies.
The rest of the time, according to Sieber, the figures are said to have been kept in special rooms or at shrines. The majority, however, seem to have been placed in or near cemeteries.
