A very similar stopper in the form of a pavian head, acquired by the Ethnological Museum Berlin in 1906, illustrated in Krieger, 1990, Fig. 182 (AHDRC 0119758).
According to Krieger, the wooden stoppers were carved by the sorcerer “madjeni” himself; their long extension is said to have been used to coat the patients with medicine.
The object Medicinal horn with stopper (pavian head) with the object ID 3046764 was part of the auction 95th Tribal Art Auction on October 24, 2020. The object with the lot number 325 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,200 with an asking price of EUR 1,800.
