Masks like this may have been sewn onto dignitaries clothing.

Thompson published a photograph of a Shango “bata” drum to which six bronze (or brass) maskettes are attached (Thompson,1971, chap. 1, fig.18).


The object Maskette of the “ogboni” society with the object ID 3048016 was last part of the auction 96th Auction at April 24, 2021 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 261 achieved a sales price of EUR 850.
