This rare mask type with a long beak represents a hornbill, that plays an important role in Dogon mythology. It is also known under the name “picoreur”, the French word for this bird.
The object Maske “dyodyomini” with the object ID 3046168 was last part of the auction 93rd Tribal Art Auction at November 16, 2019 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 99 achieved a sales price of EUR 4,000.
