wood, polychrome painted, encrustations, crowned by a platform carved with two standing figures, the front figure wearing mask and costume of “zamble”, slightly dam., minor missing part backside at the chin, abrasion, breakages/contact points (figures arms and platform), rep. (breakage left horn);
a work of the Guro master carver “Sabu bi Boti” (born between 1925 and 1935). Compare E. Fischer/L. Homberger, 2014, p. 28 ff. Coiffure, form of eyes, laughing mouth, motif of horns curved downwards to the front, as well as figural superstructure - features that can be found with all of his masks.
The object Mask with figural superstructure with the object ID 3038088 was part of the auction 79th Tribal Art Auction on March 21, 2015. The object with the lot number 196 achieved a sales price of EUR 900 with an asking price of EUR 600.
